DESCRIPTION

Maimonides, who was born in Córdoba, Spain, in 1135, and died in Cairo in 1204, was a physician, philosopher, and Talmudist. He is considered to be the most important Jewish philosopher of the Middle Ages. In Guide for the Perplexed [Guide des égarés], or Mishneh Torah(Repetition of the Torah) [Répétition de la Michna], he presented all aspects of traditional Rabbinic Judaism, reconciling its tenets with an insistence upon ratiionalism. He also notably contributed toward ongoing efforts to acquaint Christian readers of the Western World with Aristotle.

Gérard Haddad is an agricultural engineer, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst. He has published several books on the Talmud and psychoanalysis.
